Small notecard set featuring Evocation of Butterflies, c. 1910/1912 by Odilon Redon (French, 1840–1916).

For much of his career, symbolist painter Odilon Redon (French, 1840–1916) worked primarily in lithography and with charcoal, creating dark, haunting images filled with mystery. In his late fifties he turned to oils and pastels, producing wildly colorful dreamscapes such as Evocation of Butterflies. Featured prominently at the 1913 Armory Show, Redon’s work foreshadowed the Surrealist movement.

Ten small blank notecards (3 1/2 x 5 inches) and white envelopes in an acetate-topped decorative box with text about the artist or artwork.
