Lake Point Tower was inspired by a skyscraper that Ludwig Mies van der Rohe envisioned for Berlin, Germany in the early 1920’s. Lake Point Tower was the first skyscraper built using curving tinted bronze glass walls set in a framework of bronze-anodized aluminum. The architects were former students and employees of Mies van der Rohe. Original Architects: Schipporeit-Heinrich Associates. Date completed: 1968. Height: 645 feet.
